The Yamaha R-Max

The Yamaha R-Max is a leadering UAV for crop dusting and weed management. Yamaha have invested heavily to ensure that it remains at the forefront of research and development in these areas.

Australian Agriculture is quickly adopting the use of this new UAV Technology to manage it’s crops.  Wineries have seen the benefits of quicker spraying times with no soil or root damage.

RMAX Spraying 01The Yamaha R-Max also provides a better coverage when spraying crops & vineyards. The Helicopters propeller helps spread the spray across the leaves while also rustling the leaves to cover the underside.  The R-Max software automatically adjusts the volume of spray to match the ground speed ensuring an even spread acros the entire crop.

The flight path can be pre-programmed as a grid for simple crop dusting or can be flown manually to suit the terrain. Again, this makes it ideal for wineries which are often located on rolling hillsides.

Heavy farm equipment can damage the vines as it passes though a vineyard and traditional spraying with full sized aircraft uses more spray than is really needed bacause it needs to fly at a higher safe operating height.  The Yamaha R-Max can fly at a steady speed 1-2m about the crops/vines which provides optimal efficiency for spraying.

Combining the quicker spray time, reduced wastage and the avoidance of soil damage it is easy to see why this UAV is so popular with Australian Growers.
